Red Sox On To The World Series

01

The Red Sox had an amazing season this year. There’s no doubt about it. They had over a hundred win and played consistently well the whole year. But they were not necessarily the favorite to win the ALCS. The Astros have a hell of a team and many thought that the Sox would be outmatched.

The Red Sox have been great offensively all season. There is no questioning that. But Boston has had more trouble on the defensive side of the game. We have seen plenty of shaky starts from David Price, including in the ALCS. But on Thursday night, he came through for Boston. He gave up only one run and looked to be in top shape.

Red Sox fans haven’t known what to expect from Price, as sometimes he can’t make it through more than a few innings. The Boston bull pen has had problems as well. Craig Kimbrel is anything but consistent. But he too has come through when it has counted most. Although he can make it interesting, hitting batters, giving up walks and hits late in the game, he’s been clutch thus far in the playoffs.

The Red Sox are looking good going into the World Series. They just beat a very good Astros team. Houston arguably had the better starting pitching rotation and a more reliable bull pen, not to mention a lineup filled with power across the board. But the Sox were able to shut them down when it counted and generate more offensive than most people though possible.

Boston has their work cut out for them going forward but they certainly have some momentum going. The fact that the series didn’t go seven games is encouraging for the ball club and it was great for them to see Price pitch so well. Boston has a lot to be happy about this October.
